BHUBANESWAR: Union telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said here on Thursday that Centre would soon come out with a first day cover (a specially designed envelope) and postage stamp featuring Nabakalebara, fulfilling a long standing demand of the state government.
"Though time is short, we will definitely come out with a first day cover and a stamp for this grand festival," Ravi Shankar said. He was addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone of Baramunda colony post office building here.
The state government had demanded a commemorative stamp to mark the event and has earmarked Rs 6.29 lakh for the purpose.
Earlier, Odisha tourism and culture minister Ashok Panda, who was present at the event, had reiterated the state's demand for the commemorative stamp.
"The state government has taken up the issue with the Centre several times. But its fate still remains uncertain," Panda said, requesting the Union minister to favorably consider the move.
