Union Communications & IT Minster asks BSNL and postal dept to improve services

Lucknow: Union Minister of Communication and IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad recently held a review meeting in Allahabad along with the senior officers of BSNL, Postal Department, IT and BBNL (Bharat Broadband Nigam Limited). He directed officials for bringing about an improvement in the mobile connectivity in the UP Circle.


As mobile network of Lucknow, Kanpur and Varanasi has already been upgraded by IP Based Technology, the minister asked BSNL officials to upgrade the existing mobile network of remaining cities also like Allahabad, Azamgarh, Bahraich, Barabanki, Basti, Deoria, Faizabad, Mirzapur, Sultanpur, Gonda, Jhansi & Mau etc.

During the current financial year, 625 BTSs of 2G and 710 Nodes of 3G with an estimated cost of Rs. 100 Crore would be inducted by the BSNL in the network. Also, the WiFi Hot Spots, which is already operational on 43 loactions will be further enhanced by putting another 106 locations in the current year. Officials also said that 1,01,000 new lines of NGN will replace the old existing Telephone Exchanges.


The minister informed that the social media tools like Facebook, Twitter etc. are becoming the main source of interaction for accessing the information as well as lodging complaints, therefore, these tools must be used and information/complaints must be addressed in the quickest manner. He insisted that officers must use these social media tools over and above the existing conventional methods so that the complaints can be addressed at a faster pace, failing this, action will be taken against the officers.



He advised that media should be contacted frequently for conveying the limitations and information. He insisted that officials should conduct regular surprise inspections in the field in order to examine quality of the services.



He further said that with little monitoring, Speed Post Services & Parcel Services of the Postal Department have shown expected improvement. He further shared that on his Facebook and Twitter Account, many people are extending great appreciation towards BSNL and Postal Department. "Many customers are showing their faith in the BSNL Services and more & more people want to get connected with BSNL. Therefore, thrust must be given to ensure the good Quality of Services to the customer", he said.
