Odisha on Monday got its first All-Women Post Office with the Department of Posts converting the Sub-Post Office on assembly premises to a women-only workplace. Principal Chief Post Master General Sri Sarit Ku. Chakrabarty inaugurated the Women only Branch in the presence of Sri Pawan Kumar Singh, DPS ( Hq.), Sri Aditya Kumar Nayak, Sr. Superintendent of Post Offices, Bhubaneswar Division and Sri Bijay Kumar Patra Asst. Superintendent of Posts (OD ), Bhubaneswar Division. The Post Office has two staff members: the Postmaster and a MTS employee. Earlier, two men were posted against these posts; they were replaced by women. Smt. Sugi Baske joined as 1st woman Sub Postmaster and Smt. Umarani Devi as MTS of the Odisha Assembly All Women Post Office.
The office remains open from 10 am to 6 pm on all working days. It offers traditional and modern services such as booking of registered and Speed Post articles, post office savings bank service, national saving certificate, monthly income scheme, e-money order and e-payment of telephone bills. It is, however, a non-delivery post office, which means it doesn't distribute letters or parcels
