To showcase the historical, mythical and spiritual significance of Prayag Maha Kumbh, Department of Posts has planned to issue Special Covers (envelopes), as a souvenir for devotees coming from across the world.
Krishna Kumar Yadav director Postal Services Allahabad Region said to make the event historical, the department will issue six special covers showcasing six important baths. These will be released on Makar Sankranti (January 14, 2013), Paus Purnima (January 27), Mauni Amwasya (February 10), Basant Panchami (February 15), Magh Purnima (February 25) and Mahashivratri (March 10, 2013).
The design of the covers will portray the legacy of Mahakumbh and spirituality of the important holy 'shahi snans'. At the time of release of these covers.
Yadav added that special covers have been issued during Kumbh Melas earlier too, but it will be the first time they will be issued on the occasion of every important bath and devotees from across the world may take back these envelopes with them as a souvenir of Mahakumbh-2013.
