The 28th all-India Postal Inter-Circle Cricket Tournament was off to a colourful start at the port stadium at Vishakhapatnam on Monday the 19th January, 2015.
Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University G.S.N. Raju, who inaugurated the tournament, appreciated the services being rendered by the Postal Department and felt that sports meets would develop harmony among employees.
Chief Postmaster General, Andhra Pradesh Circle, B.V. Sudhakar, presided. Postal Department and game of cricket were similar in the sense that one was serving people for the last 160 years and other entertaining the whole nation, he said.
Postmaster General of Visakhapatnam region Sharda Sampath, Postmaster General of Vijayawada Region M. Sampath, Director of Postal Services, Visakhapatnam region, V. Upender, and Director of Postal Services (HQ) of Odisha Circle Pawan Kumar Singh attended. Teams from 14 postal circles (States) are participating in the five-day event.
Andhra Pradesh and Odisha dismissed their rivals for paltry scores to record wins in the all-India Postal cricket tournament on Tuesday.
The scores: Chattisgarh 42 in 13.2 overs lost to AP 45 for no loss in 4.2 overs.
Maharashtra 118 for four in 20 overs lost to Assam 121 for three in 12 overs; TN 173 for seven in 20 overs bt Kerala 119 in 20 overs.
J&K 52 in 16.5 overs lost to Odisha 53 for one in 5.5 overs; Bihar 105 for eight in 20 overs lost to WB 106 for two in 8.4 overs .
HP 100 in 19.2 overs lost to UP 104 for one in 16 overs (Akhilesh Mishra 56 n.o.).
