Information on Severe Cyclonic Storm “HUDHUD”:Cyclone Alert-Fourteen for South Odisha Coast

The Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘HUDHUD’ over westcentral & adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal moved Westnorthwestwards and  lay centered at 0830 hrs IST of 10^th October 2014 near latitude 14.7ºN and longitude 87.2ºE over westcentral Bay of Bengal about 570 km south-southeast of Gopalpur. The system would move west-northwestwards, intensify further into a very severe cyclonic storm during next 12 hours. Thereafter, it would cross north Andhra Pradesh coast around Visakhapatnam by the forenoon of 12^th October 2014.

 Forecast :   Rain/Thundershower would occur at  many places over  Odisha during next 24 hours and rainfall will increase in subsequent 48 hours in Odisha..

 Heavy R/F Warning :  Heavy to very heavy  rainfall may occur at one or two places over South Odisha during next 24 hours and heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places over South Odisha in subsequent 48 hours.

 Advice for hoisting Storm Warning Signals:   Local Cautionary Signal Number Three (LC-III) kept hoisted at all ports in Odisha.

 Likely impacts and actions:  Squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph from Northeast direction would prevail along and off Odisha coasts and the wind speed would increase to  80-90 kmph along and off  Odisha coast from 11^th evening .
