Administration informed about wearing of black badge under agitational programme

Respected Madam,

A kind reference is invited to this Association’s letter dated 31.12.2010 (copy attached vide Annexure-I) giving information about the resolution passed in the CWC meeting dated 05.12.2010 for wearing black badges by the members of this Association to protest against the Govt.’s apathy towards IP cadre on the issue of upgradation of Grade Pay.

The CHQ of this Association had written to Secretary (Posts) on 23.12.2010 (copy attached vide Annexure-II) with request to expedite action by 31.01.2011 to upgrade the GP of IPs to `4600/- or else the Association would resort to trade union activities. It is learnt from our CHQ sources that the Department has not taken any action in the matter nor has sent any information to the Association.

The issue of upgradation of GP of IPs at par with Inspectors of CBDT/CBEC picked up momentum when the Govt. in its orders dated 13.11.2009 upgraded the GP of Inspectors of CBDT/CBEC. IP cadre has now become restive as the issue continues to remain unsolved since 13.11.2009.

Despite the consent given by our Association for merger of IP and ASP cadres to facilitate upgradation of the GP of the merged cadre, the Department has remained passive to the genuine aspirations of the IP line officials on GP issue. At the backdrop of this situation, Odisha Circle Branch of AIAIASP backed by the mandate secured in its CWC meeting dated 05.12.2010 has decided to express resentment of members by wearing black badge in the first week of every month starting from the month of February 2011. Accordingly, the members of this Association will wear black badge on 07.02.2011 (Monday) and continue the exercise in the first week of every month thereafter.
